Quill and Quire (starred review)
"In Fox Walked Alone, an oblique approach to the story of Noah's ark, Reid has created her masterpiece. The story stands on its own, but a reader who knows the Biblical tale will pick up on another whole level of meaning embedded in the magnificently lively pictures. Even the birds (the taunting ravens, the two doves freed from the marketplace by Fox) will play a role, we know, in the story of the flood. These are brilliant double-page illustrations, with vibrant emotional expressiveness, fascinatingly observed detail, and energizing shifts in perspective."

Canadian Children's Book News
"This story is told in rhyme, and the words are so descriptive and alluring that they could easily stand on their own. However, it is Reid's Plasticine masterpieces which elevate her work to stellar heights. Note the use of an atmospheric desert palette, the marked contrast in textures, the rapidly changing skyscapes, the individuality portrayed in each creature's expression, the scope of the scenery, and , in spite of the feeling of urgency, a sense of humour. One can read this book many times, yet always discover a never-seen- before detail or nuance. special mention must be made of the talent of photographer Ian Crysler, who skillfully captures the finest details of Reid's artistry."

"Reid again delivers a visual feast of colour and flair. I can't help but stare at each illustration, and , as I do so, I find myself shaking my head in wonder and asking, "How does she do that?" Brilliant."

Deakin Newsletter/ Achuka
"This is a delightful picture book for young children-yes they all make the ark in time and someone is waiting for the fox-but it is also an engaging one for adult lovers of art and design who can browse over the detail and craftsmanship of Ms. Reid's work."
